Urban Decay Shadow Box Review, Swatch and Overall Verdict

Festivities/ celebrations are right above our head and nobody wants to comprise with makeup on these days . We all love to add the perfect shimmer or glitter touch to our eye makeup in order to add the extra glam factor to our makeup look. Being a self confessed makeup lover i could not stop myself in purchasing the urban decay shadow box palette. The main reason behind this purchase   was a] Color selection and b] The brand name itself. Let’s see how it turned out …….

Packaging :-

Classy is the word which can describe the packaging. It comes in sturdy cardboard packaging which has magnetic enclosure of UD logo. A mirror is provided inside the palette where a slogan is imprinted ‘beauty with an edge’. The palette contains 12 eye shadows. The whole purple look of the packaging gives an edgy touch and is travel friendly as well.

Price :-

34 $ at ulta.com – Approx INR 2,500/-

I purchased mine directly from ulta.com and received it via my sister who lives in u.s.

Ulta.com, Sephora, urban decay official website .

My take on the product:-

Pigmentation, Shade, Texture and Staying ability:-

Urban decay the brand name itself is enough to expect high quality and performance. As mentioned that one thing which attracted me the most in this particular palette was the color selection as you get shimmery gold’s , bronze colors along with blue , green and purple . Description of each eye shadow shade is below

The top row contains 6 eye shadows starting from the left :-

1] Sin :-   Shimmery Champagne color

2] Indo :- Emrald jewel toned color it has a hint of shimmer as well

3] bordello:-  Dusky pink shimmer color

4] tornado :- Deep purple with shimmer

5] smog:– Classic golden shimmer color [ I use this one a lot ]

6] Blackout:- True matte black

The bottom row contains the following shades starting from the left:-

7] flash:- Bright blue toned purple with shimmer

8] mushroom:- metallic gray with shimmer

9] lost:- bronze shimmer shade

10] freelove:- peachy shimmery shade

11] moonshadow:- Blue shimmery shade

12] baked cowboy:- Pale golden shimmery shade

Mind you 11 out of 12 shadows has soft shimmery textures to it expect for the black it’s completely matte but as I say this palette is perfect for festivities or even for a soft day time glam look. Each and every shadow in urban decay  shadow box is pigmented, buttery and soft. My favorite shades would be smog, indo, baked cowboy, lost, sin and blackout . Sin is one of those colors which can be used as a brow bone highlight. I appreciate any palette which adds matte black and this particular black named as ‘blackout’ is the show stopper of this palette as its jet black and heavenly pigmented. Free love is the only shade which is less pigmented than all. One can create beautiful  festive looks with this shadow box.  To sum  up I can say that the palette is beautiful although it does not contain any matte brown transition shade I would not complain as I could use any matte bronzer for this purpose apart from that each shades in this palette is soft , buttery , finely milled and pigmented with absolute no fall outs .

Longevity of the shadows is great as it stays for 7-8 hours without primer.  For the price point  its worth trying as the velvety touch of these eye shadows along with its strong color payoff is something you all want to try .

Overall Verdict:-

Going out for a party or loves shimmery shadows? Then Urban decay shadow box is what you all might want to try. This palette might make you fall in love with the brand and can urge to buy more from the same.   The palette is strictly for shimmer lovers being a matte eye shadow lover I am using this one currently as it helps me create festive looks without much pains.  Ending up my review by mentioning the only disappointment factor of the product, which is its unavailability in India.
